Raging against the Machine

Or..maybe not.
This is often the conundrum I face when reviewing videos by Baron Soosdon. What is he trying to say? And once again, I’m not 100% sure. In fact, this time I am not even 50% sure.
His latest piece is titled Rage & Rapture… a veritable feast for the eye and again another Kubrick-esque romp thorugh Azeroth… or maybe not. Hard to say.
As an art piece this is quite stupendous as the Baron’s work always is. Beautiful, entrancing, enigmatic.
But I will be damned if I can figure out the story…. I had to read the description on the side panel at his YouTube page to even begin to understand what was happening.
The music was awesome, the eye candy was awesome.. everything was just…awesome. But I couldnt make head nor frickin tails of the story. You rock Baron, you keep confuzzling me and I will keep enjoying your work, even if it is really and truly weird sometimes.
Watch for yourself
Rage & Rapture
Regardless of the plotting this is a great piece of machinima editing, just not the greatest story ever kinda-sorta told. 5 stars!
Enjoy!
Thrall kicks it at home
Written by wow2b.
If you remember, I recently reviewed a video called Crossing Over by up and comer, LagSpikeFilms. One of the things I loved about Crossing Over was its understated emphasis on special effects and its focus on story/content. Their latest effort is every bit as good although quite a bit different from the epic story telling of Crossing Over.
The new release,Thrall’s Crib, is a hilarious parody of MTV reality series “Cribs”. The voice acting is topnotch, production is only very slightly flawed in a few transitions, and the writing/script is brilliantly funny.
Thrall’s Crib
I laughed my ass off at this from very nearly the beginning to the end, definitely worth watching.
5/5 stars for production values, and 5/5 funny bones for intellgent humor and great writing. Another great effort from LagSpikeFilms, one of the few machinimakers who understand the value of content vs flashy effects.
Enjoy!
Ok so I made this video

Yeah, I made another video so i thought I would plug it here.
Hey, it is my blog I can plug it if I want…:-)
Unlike the amazing machinimakers out there, I am a WoW movie maker. I don’t script stories, have people painstakingly act them out, or agonize over special effects.
I fire up my fraps, point myself at the action and whatever comes out I cobble together into a movie. This time it is a guild movie:
Council of the Dragon
Enjoy!
40 man raids, you are sorely missed
Written by wow2b.
Having just come from an aborted attempt on Hydross in SSC, I’ve been pondering the beauty of the 40 man raids we used to do in WoW. I’ve often also wondered if those old school raids were really as good as I remember them, or if I am just looking back with rose tinted nortalgia… then I recall seeing BaronSoosdon’s raid masterpiece ‘BWL: The Last Ride”.
I often reminisce about the glorious adventures we had back then and it re-motivates me to keep trying in 25 man’s. If you never got to raid 40 man style, then here is what you missed:
BWL: The Last Ride
This may be the best raid movie made to date. The Baron does more than just capture a raid in this piece, he captures the spirit of old school raiders and gives us all an up close, personal journey through the greatest WoW instance ever made…. Blackwing Lair.
I can only give this video 6/5 stars… it isnt perfect (there are a few very minor technical flaws) but it’s about as close as I ever expect to see.
I’ve reviewed this before, but now it is available to view via Google rather than only Stage 6 which closed its doors a couple months ago. Enjoy!
